Injury Prevention & Management Foundation

The Injury Prevention and Management Foundation’s (IPMF) purpose is to fund research and education, and to service development programs that are directed towards the prevention and improved management of injuries resulting from motor accidents.

It is expected that funding appropriate projects may lead to benefits including:

a)  Reduction in the frequency and severity of injuries from road accidents

b)  Improved access to quality medical, rehabilitation and long term care services

c) New developments/techniques in some areas of injury management

d)  Minimisation of the costs of the scheme to the Tasmanian Community

Approved projects are published in the Board’s Annual Report.

Applying for IPMF Funding

The Foundation publicly calls for applications and expressions of interest in February each year.

The MAIB or IPMF Committee may identify the need for a particular project to be undertaken, in which case it will seek expressions of interest from appropriate individuals or organisations to undertake the project. This may occur through either direct contact or publicly calling for expressions of interest in submitting a proposal to undertake the project.

Standard conditions apply to all projects approved for funding by the IPMF, irrespective of whether funding is allocated to an organisation, group or individual.
